Educational Services

Filmmaking for educational and community groups is highly beneficial in promoting creativity, connection and storytelling.

With over 20 years experience in community group facilitation and mentoring, Karenza brings a fun and playful approach to the process. Participants come away with hands on filmmaking skills and an opportunity to collaborate with others on their ideas. I’m also qualified as a Training and Assessment supervisor and have years of experience as a Screen and Media teacher at TAFE.

Subjects for Training can be tailored to your individual or group needs and may include:

  • Developing ideas

  • Scriptwriting for documentary or drama

  • Basic camera, sound and lighting techniques

  • Interview techniques

  • Basic editing

  • Distributing videos online or to festivals

Training can be delivered on site in your workplace, or at a venue adequate in size for the group.

Training can be delivered as either single workshops of short courses run over a number of weeks.

With connections to both local film organisations and accredited training facilities, I can also support students to go on to further studies or opportunities if they wish.

  • Youth communitie

  • Disability communities

  • Refugee communities

Pixel the Past

In April 2017, Pixel the Past presented new digital media works in an exhibition at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery (NRCG) that explored nine heritage stories from the Ballina Shire. Alstonville High School students (years 9-12), members of the Plateau’s Historical Society – the ‘heritage buddies’ – and digital media creators Duke Albada, Susie Forster and Karenza Ebejer collaborated over nine months to research and create these works. Project participants attended a series of workshops, led by historian Kate Gahan, to inspire the stories.

One-on-one digital story mentoring with a disability client from Red Inc. Disability Service in Lismore. This took place over two years and enabled the young man to develop creative storytelling skills and produce work for his own YouTube channel.

Auslan Creative - working with the deaf community

Auslan Creative

Arts Northern Rivers have begun delivery of Auslan Creative, a major project working with the Northern Rivers Deaf community and multi-artform partners. The project will deliver a creative development program aimed at exploring models for collaboration and practice development between artists of mixed abilities and cultures.

Programming for the screen based explorations is with Screenworks delivering a series of film writing workshops. The intimate lab series worked with two local participants on developing a factual-based film project. During the workshops, the participants were given the opportunity to explore creative storytelling ideas with the outcome of producing a concept document, script and teaser for a short film.
